Muscat Wines of Indonesia
Wine production in Indonesia is limited but in 2020 it was possible to identify six wineries: Cantine Balita, Cape Discovery Wines, Hatten Winery, Plaga Wines, Sababay Wines, Two Islands Wines. Of these, four produce muscat wine made from an unusual variety of muscat grapes.

Alphonse Lavallée Grape
The grape has origins in France as a table grape and it is a popular grape used for winemaking in Bali. It is a cross between Muscat Hamburg and Kharistvala Kolkhuri from Georgia. This is a vigorous dark skinned grape that can be harvested up to three times a year in Bali, and is used to make light bodied wine in the style of Beaujolais Nouveau and Rosé.
Belgia Grape
This is said to be a rare French table grape that is a variant of Muscat of Alexandria.
In Indonesia, it is used to make wine.
Muscat Saint Vallier Grape
Muscat Saint Vallier is a cross between Seyve Villard 12 and Muscat Hamburg.

Cantine Balita Winery
“Cantine Balita is a Balinese boutique winery that specializes in growing high-quality grapes, by combining Italian viticulture knowledge with Balinese agricultural traditions.” The winery started in 2012 producing Isola brand wines.. . Among other grapes the winery grows Muscat St Vallier and Alphonse-Lavallée.

Hatten Wines
Hatten Wines holds the distinction of being the first winery in Bali, Indonesia. It opened its doors in 1994.
The 2017 Asian Wine Review published by Hong Kong’s Asian wine authority, The Flying Winemaker, announced that Hatten Wines was the Winery of the Year for 2017. The winery won silver medals for its medium sweet and fruity white wine “Alexandria” and also the sweet fortified wine “Pino de Bali”, and a bronze medal for its dry white wine “AGA White”.
(Hatten Wines has another label called Two Islands. Two Islands wines are made from grapes imported from Southern Australia but the wine is produced in Bali in the Sanur winery.)
